Kia orana
My name is royehl and today I want to talk to you about something really important: being a kaitiaki for our whenua (land) and ocean
Let me ask you a question. Have you ever seen rubbish on the ground and walked past it? That’s called littering. We shouldn’t litter because the land gives us so much like food, water air the land looks after so we should look after it too by picking up rubbish and not polluting.
Once our ancestors lived on this land and They respected the ocean, the land They didn’t take more than they needed. They knew how to take care of the whenua. But now, we’re seeing too much pollution. oceans full of rubbish and plastic. That led to turtles dying .
. We can all do small things to make a big difference.
We can pick up rubbish and put in the bin
And put the plastic in the recycle bin to help the turtles in the ocean from not dying.
It’s bad to throw rubbish on the ground in front of little kids cuz they will copy you and that’s not being a role model. To be a role model you should pick up rubbish in front of little kids so you can be a great example.`
